Commander's Corner

Legionnaires,

As we start to transition into fall, I hope you all are doing well. We have some exciting things happening around the post. We have launched a new American Legion Facebook page and will hopefully follow this up with other social medio outlets. Please go out and like/follow our page. Our meeting this month is on October 13th and encourage all Legionnaires to attend our meetings. Once again, I encourage participation from all members as it is vital to ensure we can stay strong and prosper as a post.

Membership drive continues and we are tracking close to expectation for our renewals. If you have not already done so, please get those renewals completed so that we can once again achieve our 100% by the end of the calendar year. On October 10th we will be having our Members Appreciation Dinner prepared and served by our wonderful Legion Auxiliary Members. I have secured some cash door prizes that will be up for grabs. There will be a $100 cash door prize that all members attending will get a chance to win. For members who have not yet renewed but do that night you will get a chance to win an additional $50 door prize and lastly any member who brings a new member and signs up at this event will get a chance for another $50 door prize.

The Honor Guard has been busy this past month with football games and funerals. We are always looking for new members. If being in the Honor Guard is something you are interested in, please reach out to me.

As we look to end September, we are looking forward to seeing all of you and guests at the Pig Roast that will be held at the Legion Hall on Sept 26th. We are also in the early stages of planning a March against Hunger event that will be held on November 7th, please keep eyes out for more information.

I am still working on getting information from the schools on plans for Veterans Day. I would like to see as many of us out there as we can. Also Fall conference is open for registration and I would once again like to see members attend this great gathering.

Upcoming Legion events: (information can be found on the Department Events website)

October 10th – Members appreciation Dinner @ the Legion Post

Chaplain’s Corner

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for our many blessings!

Lord, I pray that all are kept safe this school year and that all young people and old learn about cursive writing, reading and mathematics.

May all people that can legally vote, exercise their right to do so, and to repeal any communistic socialism that is hurting this great nation and return to,

“One Nation Under God”!

Lord, I pray your loving, healing and guiding hands be upon our military both active and veterans. And that all may find safety in your hands! Please stay safe!

May there be no strike!

God Bless all of you!

God Bless all services everywhere!

God Bless America!!

Auxiliary President's Corner

Auxiliary,

Hello Auxiliary members “Fall” has fell and I hope you all are getting what you need to get done before winter sets in. Please note our next meeting is on October 13th at 7:00 pm. This will be our last meeting until March of 2027.

Looks like the membership dinner is on the 10th of October. Please look on the website for the Becker American Legion post 193 to find out more details. This will be a good time to come enjoy a meal and renew your 2027 membership in person.

Many thanks for each and every one of you who are members - we thank all of you who have helped out at our different functions throughout the summer, thank you so much.

God bless America.

Sincerely,

Paula Hinds, President

Sons of The American Legion

Greetings Sons,

Thank God the weather has finally started to cool. The fall is the start of our busiest times of the year. From now until New Years the squadron will be fielding a number of events and volunteer opportunities.

October 3rd starts off our Toys-for-Tots drive. We will once again be servicing all of the boxes in Becker. John F., Marty I., Ken G. and Dennie B. will be the leads. Please reach out if you'd like to help or have a suggestion on where to place a box.

Next, our Saturday Lunches will kick off on October 17th. Archery will be the first organization to help us out. We had our Recipients Meeting in September and were able to fill out 6 of our 7 dates. We are looking into filling the last slot shortly as well as brainstorming new ideas for the menu. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

In November, we will be gearing up for our Fall Craft Sale on November 21st & 22. 16 of the 20 spaces are already reserved which is amazing. Now our main push is to get the word out to the public to ensure another good showing.

Mingled in-between all of this, we will continue helping with honors. In the last 2 months, the SAL has lent a hand with 2 funerals and 2 football games. I would like to thank all who participated and continue to honor the Legion. There will be at least 2 more games in October and hopefully more in the future.

Membership is going well so far. Mark S. has signed on to helping with the online side of things. It is our hope that we can speed up the process of filing and get our cards out sooner. If you have yet to renew, please reach out to Mark S. or John F.

Finally, we have a note about meeting dates. As was brought up at last month's Guns n Cupcakes, having our meetings on the 1st Monday of the month has not garnered positive results. After consulting with the Post, it has been decided that we will move our meeting date to the 4th Tuesday instead. So, for October, we will meet on the 5th & again on the 27th to remain in front of the Post meeting. It is a little confusing but hopefully, by next month, things will smooth out and we can continue forward.
