Commander's Corner
Legionnaires,
The winter is dragging on. I’m sure we are all waiting for spring. It’s been a quiet winter for the Legion. The Clank and Thud horseshoe league are still using the bay area of the Legion for indoor league and tournaments.
We are having an event on May 1st. It’s an open house dance with a band (Santrino) refreshments and food available. More information will be in future newsletters. We hope that this could help membership.
County Council will be here on March 16. It includes a meal by our Auxiliary. Show up and hear about what your fellow legion post are doing. All legion, auxiliary, and SAL members and spouse are welcome.
Keep in mind that Freedom Days is on June 20th. We will need workers and parade volunteers for that event. Remember the legion events that are in the newsletter and put them on your calendar.
Be active and bring prospective member to the next meeting. Raffle tickets will be given out as soon as available.
For God and Country,
Tom Lee

Chaplain's Corner
Heavenly Father,
Heavenly Father, thank you for our many blessings as we enjoy 6 more weeks of winter.
I pray Lord that your loving and guiding hands will work with the Holy Spirit to correct and guide those that are lost in life or in politics and to help this great nation to once again be “One Nation Under God”. As we go forward toward Easter and the celebration of Jesus Christ, our Savior’s Resurrection! May we be blessed by you in our daily journeys and to look forward to a Blessed Easter!
Peace and Love
Chaplain Tim
Auxiliary President's Corner
Auxiliary,
It is now March and our Auxiliary meetings will resume. We will meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 o’clock same as the Legion members. If you have any outstanding dues ~ please get them in as soon as possible, they are for 2026. The American Legion Auxiliary counts on your membership and we are trying to increase our numbers and grow - if you know of someone who would be interested in joining, they can be as involved as they wish. We are a low-pressure group of ladies. Please give us a holler!!! Praying you all have an early spring as we are in the season of Lent with Easter on the horizon.
As usual, any questions, comments, concerns, ideas or help for the auxiliary please contact Nellie or Paula.
God bless America.
Sincerely,
Paula Hinds president
Sons of The American Legion
Greetings Sons,
Here we are again. Stuck in-between winter and spring where the weather ping pongs to extremes and change seems all but inevitable. I hope you all are doing well and whatever change is in the wind, it is a positive one for you.
For the Squadron, things seem to remain a bit formulaic. Last month’s Luncheon with the Soccer team went really well. The Boy Scouts will be helping us with this month’s Saturday Lunch on 14 March. Both benefit from Dennie Barutt's amazing pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and baked beans. It's definitely worth a try, or seconds, if supplies last.
Our annual Spring Craft Sale has been set for 18 & 19 April. Thanks to word of mouth, Facebook and our new website, we have already stirred a good amount of interest. 14 of the 20 spaces are already reserved, most of which are Legion family or returning crafters. We are very fortunate to have so many loyal participants.
Vice Commander Dave would like everyone to know that the SAL Spring Conference will be held on 21 March at the Arcade/Phalen American Legion Post 577 (1129 Arcade St. St. Paul, MN 55106). This is a very important conference because this is where they will decide the location of the 2027 SAL State Convention. He would like as many Squadron 193 members to attend as possible to show our commitment and help gather support.
In preparation for the Robotics’ annual Granite City Region on 10 & 11 April and Memorial Day, a request has been made to run flag and riffle drills. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Sessions will more than likely be before or after meetings. Our next meeting is 17 March. For anyone who hasn't been to one of ours, they are pretty fun. I hope to see you there.
For God and Country,
Andrew J. Lee
SAL Commander
