Newsletter - January 2024

Commander's Corner

Legionnaires,

In the last newsletter, I noted I would bring up a discussion to help our school principals

see if we would help them with their programs to get more Veterans to come on Veterans

Day. I am sorry to say out of the 16 Veterans that came to that meeting, I got no one saying one word. Come on guys they are asking us to help them promote our day.

Next the Becker Archery group put on a great presentation. Since they started their

membership has increased greatly. They even do fundraising to purchase their own

supplies. Then our members came to life and voted to donate $2000 out of our gaming

account to the club.

On our December 7th Pearl Harbor Remembrance ceremony we had a poor attendance. I

appreciate those that did take the time out of their busy schedule to attend and enjoy the pizza.

January 28th Post 193 members are invited to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for

Samuel Nalty at 5pm at the Baptist Church in Becker.

January 6th Post 193 members have been invited in uniform (shirt & hat) to attend the

105th birthday party in the Big Lake High School theater by door B for Gold Star mother

Stella T. Huso at 11:30. Complete info in this weeks front page of Patriot Newspaper.

Once again members please send us your phone numbers and addresses and emails.

We are getting back to many letters or cannot email you. This does cost us money. Please

help.

Also, our chef has set February 17th for our next chili supper. It was great last time he said there will be more versions of chili. More info in the next newsletter.

Another note on our annual garage sale. We are taking in separate boxes inside the hall,

any new items you got regifted or clothing or shoes that are wrong size or colors, or extra

tools to sell separately. To drop them off just call one of your officers and they will come and let you in with the items.

On a sad note we have the news of increase of National dues $5, State American Legion

$3 and Post 193. Please come to our next meeting and discuss ways to raise funds to

offset the dues increase and not just say no increase.

Also looking for someone to head Americanism Committee. Mainly to insure we get

someone to take photos of all the things our Post does and put them in the newspaper.

Also at our last meeting Dec. 12th the Becker Robotics team delegates handed out 16 gift bags with treats and prizes to all members as a thank you for our service. Thank you from all of us Veterans here.

As usual meeting second Tuesday of the month. 7pm gavel falls.

For God and Country,

Commander John C. Reibel Sr.

Chaplain's Corner

Heavenly Father, I pray that this new year may be one for the rectification of all the ill conceived ideas of this nation this state and the people that believe we need the WHO and only solar and wind. Lord, please remove those that wish to indoctrinate our children with Marxist ideas, replace a state flag with one from a foreign country that opposes what this country stands for! And let us decide as the people of this country what is best for our families, Not rolling blackouts and brownouts. Hundreds died from the same issues and problems during the storm in Texas. And now we will get the same treatment in the colder parts of this country. Why?

Thank you Lord for all my many blessings and for allowing me to vent, I know You are aware of my complaints, and I ask that my transgressions be forgiven.

Lord, I pray You to bless this nation, "One Nation Under God" and all those who believe and to bless those that do not know you, all in Jesus Christ name, I Pray!

God Bless all of you!

God Bless America!

Blessings Always!

Chaplain Tim

Sons of The American Legion

Greetings, Sons,

My, what an end to a year! As 2023 came to a close, we Sons wrapped up a number of events. Our craft sale was a huge success. Our participation in Toys-for-Tots brought in equal amounts from last year, and our Luncheons with Clank & Thud brought in much needed funds and goodwill between our groups.

The next horseshoe tournament will be on January 13. We will be serving food and concessions between 9 and 6ish, depending on supplies. The Sons would like to extend an invitation to all Legion family to come and enjoy an inexpensive meal and fellowship with us.

It is our hope that we, as a Squadron, can use this momentum to continue to raise funds to put towards various causes and help maintain the hall. We voted to take on the responsibility of keeping the bathrooms stocked with product and replacing dispensers as needed. More information on that to follow.

Looking forward to 2024, we will be focusing on which events to renew and where to expand to. Our next meeting will be on the 16th. Our major topics of discussion will be our 2024 concert, future craft sales, and home improvement opportunities for the hall. If you can join us, we would love to see you.

For God and Country,

Andrew J. Lee
