Newsletter - February 2024

Commander's Corner

Legionnaires,

We got a chance to talk to a lot of people at the Becker Business Expo and try to get new

members. May have convinced one to join. Thanks to Jim Lucas, The 6th District

Membership chairperson, we did get one new member. There are still a lot of honorable

discharged service people who do not realize that the new dates of eligibility start after Dec. 7, 1941 and up to the present. Places do not forget to ask them, they deserve to enjoy all the programs the American Legion has. One never knows where it might be just the programs they may enjoy. We do have fun once in awhile. So when is our next bean bag tournament?

In February meeting we will be discussing the dues members pay. The National dues are

going up $5, State Department dues increase by $3, and District by $2 and increase in Post dues.

Please come to our chili supper. Volunteers are doing this to put some money in our

checkbook so we can pay bills and have some to donate to help Veterans out here at out

Post as well as others. $8 all you can eat meal is a bargain, 3 types of chili and fixings.

Veterans Day on the Hill can talk to your Legislature member and Senate member. This

year Vision Transportation has donated a bus for Veterans. Pick up time is 7am and

departs Becker American Legion at 7:20. Call officers and get names on the schedule,

seats limited. April 17th.

Our 6th District Legion Convention will be held on June 1st 2024 in Brainerd. In 2022 the National Executive Committee of the American Legion passed resolution 7, establishing American Legion Family Day to be observed annually on the last Saturday in April. What can we do that would involve the Legion members, SAL members, Auxiliary members and Yellow Ribbon members?

We will be having our yearly garage sale! Remember we have added a new twist - if you

have any new items we are keeping them separate from the DAV bin items. So let us know if the items are new or like new and we will separate them. More to come on dates, etc.

At our Feb. meeting I will bring in an interesting story of what happened recently in a

graveyard in France!

Also, if any of our members have photos of the following past American Legion Post 193

Commanders let me know. Dale Pozorski, Mark Kolbinger Sr., Dan Johnson. John Haskell, Harold Cox, Edwin Peterson, Joe Henniges, Harvey Winkleman. Earl Currie, Alvin Gongoll, Alfred Christenson. I need pictures to fill pictures to fill in our Commander board. Or if anyone knows of a relative that could help[ us with this project call Becker True Value Hardware at 763-261-4464.

As always meetings are second Tuesday of the month and last hour or less. Thank you.

For God and Country,

Commander John C. Reibel Sr.

Chaplain's Corner

Heavenly Father, thank you for all our many blessings. Lord, I pray that what is happening here in this great country and the terrible travesties that are happening around the world, may they be rectified by Your guiding hands.

Lord, you have granted us all free will to follow or not follow your guidance and destroy what we have been blessed with. And may we truly change the path we are on for the benefit of all and may our spiritual leader(s) in Rome follow the Word of God, and not the path of societies whims and political rhetoric.

May our freedom of speech and freedom of religion be held tight so as to not loose them because of attitudes of judges and politicians and those that are now woke from unknownisms. May we be held accountable to each other as "One Nation Under God", just as the constitution tells us to do. Our education system is broken as our children are being coerced as are we to accept a Marxist ideology of indoctrination so we will have more puppets leading as we have in the White House now.

Lord, I pray to You asking that the lies and bullying and the attempts of negating what our Constitution stands for. Lord, You know where I stand and that I bend a knee to your glory. We need Your help to realign the business sector, the lying media dictatorship which hides the truth. Help us to return to a honest society that values strong families with faith this nation's forefathers sought! I pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ mine and our Lord and Savior!

God Bless all of you!

God Bless America!

Sons of The American Legion

Greetings Sons,

I had the pleasure of attending Sam Nalty's Court of Honor this past weekend. This is when he received his Eagle Scout ranking. It was a small ceremony with a dinner afterward, much like a graduation or grad party. What struck me the most was that over half of the ceremony was Sam thanking those who had helped him get to where he is now.

The whole evening was inspiring and helped me remember why we are here. Personally, I started out as a scout some 30 years ago, helping my dad in the Legion. Since then, we all have helped each other grow and change to better honor veterans and help the community.

It is in this spirit that we are able to take on our specific roles. As the Sons, this month, we will continue to have our lunch and concessions for Clank and Thud on the 17th. We will be opening the lunch up to the Legion and the public, so come on in for our $8 special. Our next meeting will be on the 20th. We'd love to see you either day.

For God and Country,

Andrew J. Lee

SAL Commander
