The Becker Marching Band has had a long and honored history with the community. Its current incarnation is gearing up for their 3rd year of summer events.
The end of the 1st week in June is a busy time for the Becker Marching Band. This is a boot camp of sorts for new and returning members to learn how to march, get introduced to this years music and be fitted for uniforms. It is 3 days of hard work and camaraderie which culminated in a public preview hosted by the Becker Sons of the American Legion Squadron 193.
Located at the Legion Post (12155 Hancock St.), the preview began with a ticketed dinner cooked by the band director Justin Frerich and served by his team. A demonstration of the bands routine and music followed on the street just outside of the post. Local law enforcement was on hand to direct traffic.
The Marching Bulldogs will be performing at area Parades in Waite Park, Albertville, Foley, Milaca, Becker and Big Lake. They end their season with a performances at the Alexandria Vikingland Band Festival, Valleyfair, and the Annandale 4th of July Parade. They are performing music from the "Sound Music", as well as "Louie, Louie".
